Welcome to the first volume of the Decide Newsletter. My name is Tyron Bache but you can call me Ty. I am a solopreneur based in the United Kingdom and I am fascinated by decisions.
Decide is going to be all about the art of decision-making and I’m looking forward to helping you make better decisions.
As with the title of this newsletter, life is full of decisions, big and small. From choosing what to have for dinner to deciding on a career path to picking a partner, our choices shape our experiences and determine our future.
Unfortunately, making decisions can often be a confusing and overwhelming process. I know I never received any lessons during school on how to make good decisions, did you? Every day you and I are faced with thousands of decisions and because most of us have never been taught how to decide or what to consider when making these, invariably we make the wrong decision occasionally. Sometimes the consequences are catastrophic and sometimes they aren’t. I’m keen to help share some insights to help all of us with our decision-making.
That is why I am so excited to be launching Decisions, a website with a simple goal: to help you make better decisions and Decide, the ultimate newsletter for decision-makers.
Why now?
If the last few years are anything to go by, not being able to make good decisions can leave you in a tricky predicament. I want to provide helpful insights, practical tips, and thought-provoking discussions to give you the knowledge you need to choose well. Whether you’re grappling with a significant decision or simply looking for ways to make wise choices, this newsletter will hopefully be beneficial for you.
My goal is to provide a supportive and open space for you to explore the many facets of decision-making. I believe that by gaining a deeper understanding of the process, we can all make smarter choices and lead more fulfilling lives.
Sounds good but how?
I’m glad you asked, I’ll delve into a variety of topics related to decision-making, including:
- Important points to consider when making sound decisions
- Understanding and overcoming decision-making biases
- Develop a decision-making framework that works for you
- The role of emotions in decision-making
- How incentive structures influence our decisions
- How to make good decisions under pressure
- How to spot and defeat decision fatigue
I love decision-making frameworks and really find that they help me when I’m feeling overwhelmed with a particular decision. I see how I can use the framework to do the heavy lifting when it comes to making a decision. Here is a taste of some of the frameworks that I’ll be exploring this year:
- The SWOT analysis
- The Eisenhower matrix
- The rubber band model
- The Johari window
- The Pareto principle
- Cognitive bias
- The Unconscious thought theory
- The Flow model
With all of the theory listed above, I’ll also be sharing some real-life examples and stories of decisions, both good and bad, that I have made. Ignorance is not bliss. Remind me to tell you the story of my 1974 VW Beetle that caught fire.
So, whether you’re a seasoned decision-maker looking to refine your approach or find that indecisiveness is leaving you with regrets, please join me on this journey. Together, we’ll learn, grow, and make better decisions.
Enjoy the rest of your Wednesday, and I’ll see you next week.

P.S. Say hey on Twitter and if you have a moment I would love your feedback on this first volume, you can leave a comment here.
I’m also a solopreneur, and my biggest struggle is decision paralysis. I have so many ideas that I get stuck in the possibilities stage. I’m excited to hear strategies to make better and faster decisions.
Cheers and good luck!
Hey Maya, decision paralysis is so real especially when we have so many great ideas with so many possibilities, I struggle with it too and feel frustrated when I can’t explore all of them.
I find writing all my ideas down and then once in a while reviewing them to see which ones aren’t so shiny and enticing after a few days helps, moving them to an archive helps me feel like I’ve dealt with the dull ones so that I can free up my mind to focus on the ones that are still glistening.
I’m excited to share strategies to make better and faster decisions with you, thank you for subscribing.
Hi Tyrone
Great topic and although you didn’t share any insight yet, you seem to be knowledgeable.
